Amara & Tobi — The Lagos Wedding

A four-minute highlight film cut from two days of footage, three cameras and a lot of laughter.

Highlight film — 4:12 — directed by the couple, shot by Kemi Adesanya.

Role & Brief

Lead editor & colourist

Amara and Tobi wanted a film that felt like the day actually felt — long lunch light, loud aunties, the quiet walk away from the reception — rather than a highlight reel of poses.

My brief was simple: keep the vows unbroken, make the party feel like a party, and get it under five minutes so it would actually get watched and shared.

Creative Approach

Cut around the moments, not the timeline.

Story first

I laid out every speech and vow before touching a single cutaway. The structure came from what people said, then the visuals were built to serve it.

Sound-led pacing

Room tone and live band audio carry the transitions. Music enters late and leaves early, so the film breathes instead of running to a track.

Warm, honest grade

Golden hour kept golden. Skin tones matched across three cameras in Resolve, with a soft filmic curve rather than a stylised look.

Tools Used

Software & workflow

  • DaVinci Resolve — colour grading and shot matching
  • CapCut - short-form video editing, titles, text overlays, captions, and transitions.
  • Canva-social media carousels, thumbnails, and simple promotional graphics.
